_. Sir Timothy Bevan, who died 11 February, 2016, aged 88, was a scion of that landed family. He was chairman of Barclays Bank, 1981-87 (and descended from that banking dynasty).

From his obituary: "His father, grandfather and elder brother were all stockbrokers. But his great-grandfather, Francis Augustus Bevan, was a partner in the Lombard Street banking house of Barclay, Bevan, Tritton, Ransom, Bouverie & Co"

Do you have information about his  father, grandfather and elder brother ?

His father was (Francis) Hugh Bevan (b circa 1895) who married, in 1923, Pleasance Scrutton, dau of Frederic Scrutton, by his wife the former Maude Cunliffe Vidal, dau of the Rev F.F. Vidal.

Timothy Bevan's aunt, Barbara Scutton, married Humphrey Pelly, scion of the Pelly Bts.

Timothy Bevan's elder brother was Robert Francis Bevan (b 10 Dec 1924, d May 2005).

The abovementioned Francis Hugh Bevan was the son of Mary Frances Merelina Bosanquet (Mrs Bevan) 1872-1958, scion of the Bosanquet landed family, who married Owen Charles Bevan 1870-1950, son of Francis Augustus Bevan.

The talk below stairs was that the brother was christened Robin and changed it to Rob by Deed Poll.  Never heard the Robert name used  but Rob is a standard abbreviation so that means nothing. Rob Bevan bought his father Hugh Bevan's partnership in Pember and Boyle (the Government stockbrokers) after Hugh Beven retired on health grounds.

Pleasance Bevan remained close to her family and (in my opinion) especially Honey Scrutton's son Dr David Scrutton
