I don't know when she was born, but probably it was not 1921.. especially if her father was really born in 1910?

Obit in the Telegraph -  Dowager Countess of Rosebery, chatelaine who brought theatrical flair to Dalmeny House – obituary

EXTRACTS:

The Dowager Countess of Rosebery, chatelaine who brought theatrical flair to Dalmeny House

She met her husband Neil, autodidact electrician and later 7th Earl of Rosebery, ‘at the top of a ladder’ on stage at the Oxford Playhouse

The Dowager Countess of Rosebery, who has died aged 94, was chatelaine for 70 years of Dalmeny House, overlooking the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh, was widely active in Scottish public affairs, and devoted much of her life to curating her husband’s spectacular art collection – and to being mother-hen to a large, various and talented extended family (not all of whom were relatives).

Tough, adventurous and highly intelligent, Deirdre Rosebery brought energy and an original outlook to the display of what remained of the Rothschild Collection from Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire – inherited through the marriage of the Liberal Prime Minister, Archibald 5th Earl of Rosebery, to the heiress Hannah Rothschild – after its death-duties-driven sale in 1976.

Her fresh approach at Dalmeny contrasted to that of other British country houses in its theatricality. Having met her husband Neil, later 7th Earl of Rosebery, “at the top of a ladder” on stage at the Oxford Playhouse, she welcomed the chance to make the family’s house a blockbuster production. Neil and Deirdre established their home upstairs after their marriage in 1955 – and they never moved down [….]

Curiosity and her curatorial role led her into wider responsibilities: she was a trustee of the National Gallery in Edinburgh, where she successfully opposed a dubious scheme to close the magnificent Scottish National Portrait Gallery and move all its pictures to Glasgow. She subsequently became a trustee of the National Museum of Scotland and the Edinburgh College of Art.

She was involved with St Columba’s Hospice, the Scottish War Blinded (now known as Sight Scotland Veterans) and Ecas (formerly the Edinburgh Cripple Aid Society). She was President of the Scottish Girl Guides as well as a governor of their Trefoil School. As Lady Primrose (before Neil inherited the Rosebery earldom), she was Lady in Waiting to the Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1970, 1971 and 1972.

Alison Mary Deirdre Reid was born in London on September 8 1931, the eldest daughter of the surgeon Ronald William Reid, and brought up in Colchester. She was educated at Benenden and the Ruskin College of Art at Oxford, where she met her future husband Neil, Lord Primrose, who was studying physics at New College [….]

The Dowager Countess of Rosebery is survived by her son Harry, 8th Earl of Rosebery, and four daughters, Lucy, Jane, Emma and Caroline.

The Dowager Countess of Rosebery, born September 8 1931, died May 24 2026
