He was elder s of Lt-Col Peter John LUARD DSO OBE 1911-78 scion of that gentry family f/o Blyborough and Mary Alicia 1914-93 d of James Herbert MORRELL 1882-1965 sometime head of that gentry family of Headington Hill Hall and Julia Maud Mary 1913-68 d of Sir George Chardin DENTON KCMG 1851-1928 (sometime Govr of [Republic of] The Gambia) and Jean Margaret Alan STEVENSON d 1900. He never married.
