Lord BENYON is a scion of the BENYON of Englefield LG family, though not in the historic male line. His grandfather, Vice Admiral Richard BENYON (1892 - 1968), son of Sir John SHELLEY, 9th Baronet (1848 - 1931) and Marion Emma BENYON (died 1948), inherited Englefield from a kinsman Sir Henry Arthur BENYON, 1st Baronet (1884 - 1959), who dsp, and subsequently changed his name to BENYON by Deed Poll in 1964.  He is in remainder to the SHELLEY baronetcy as scion in in the male line.  Lord BENYON and his first wife both descend from the CLARENDON earls.

And quicker than you can say "Devil Water," I knew that Roseanna Eden is a descendant, through the Petres, of James Radcliffe, the Jacobite 3rd Earl of Derwentwater (executed 1716), a grandson of King Charles II and Moll Davies. She also has descents from Charles II and Louise de Keroualle (via 1st Duke of Richmond, Keppels, Meyricks, Hay-Drummonds, et al.) and from Charles II and Barbara Villiers (via Charles FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Southampton & Cleveland, Vane earls of Darlington and 1st Duke of Cleveland, Lady Louisa Vane Meyick, et al.).
