From the Times and 1 March 2025: RUSSELL Colin Patrick died peacefully on 24th February 2025, aged 80. Colin Russell MBE, solicitor, a man of integrity, humour, and kindness. Deeply loved by his wife Jessica, son Richard Elwes and family, and by his many friends.

He was s of Gerald Cyril RUSSELL 1896-1962 (gs of Law Lord Baron RUSSELL OF KILLOWEN (1894 cr) 1832-1900 who was f of Sir Charles RUSSELL 1^st Bt 1863-1928) and Barbara 1901-85 d of Sir James Philip REYNOLDS 1^st Bt 1865-1932 and Elizabeth Emilia Leila 1871-1961 d of Nicholas Robert ROSKELL 1837-1911 and Elizabeth Jemima MORGAN 1841-77. He m 1978 Jessica Margaret b 1837 d of Ramsay William Rainsford HANNAY 1911-2004 sometime chief of that Scots gentry family of Kirkdale and Margaret 1913-94 d of Sir William George WISEMAN 10^th Bt 1885-1962 and his 1st w Marjorie Florence Hulton 1888-1961 d of Rev George Frederick SAMS 1842-1923 and Sarah Beatrix 1850-1933 d of Rev Campbell Basset Arthur Grey HULTON 1813-78 (s of Lt-Col Henry HULTON 1765-1831 s of William HULTON 1739-73 sometime head of that gentry family of Hulton, as well 2xgt gf of Sir William Wilbraham Blethyn HULTON 1^st Bt 1844-1907) and Sarah Stokes FLETCHER 1820-76. He had a son (see below) by Jessica Mary b 1942 d of Sir Richard Everard Augustine ELWES OBE TD 1901-68 scion of that gentry family of Roxby (and gs of 8^th Earl of DENBIGH 1823-92) and Mary Freya 1904- d of Sir Tatton Benvenuto Mark SYKES 6^th Bt 1879-1919 and Edith Violet 1872-1930 d of Rt Hon Sir John Eldon GORST 1835-1916 and Mary Elizabeth MOORE 1835-1914.
