Hopkins - The engagement is announced between Charles, elder son of Mr Nicholas Martel, of Bedale, North Yorkshire, and Mrs Jane Martel, of Milverton, Somerset, and Amelia, elder daughter of Mr Stephen Hopkins, of Masham, North Yorkshire, and Mrs Giulia Merrison, of Lacock, Wiltshire.

Charles Giffard Le Quesne (b 1988) s of Nicholas Charles Giffard MARTEL (b 1960), scion of that gentry family of Bulford Lodge and of the ROPNER Bts cr 1904, and his former w (Sarah) Jane Maxwell (b c1963 reg Q1 Lancashire) d of John Smethurst Maxwell BARLOW of Minshall Hall, Nantwich, Cheshire and Valerie PORTER-HARGREAVES (b 1931 reg Q4 Lancashire).
