From the Telegraph of 3 June 2025: BUXTON Mary Violet (née Buxton) on 22nd May 2025 peacefully at her home in Grantchester, aged 100. Wife of the late David Roden Buxton (died 2003), much-loved mother of five, grandmother of six and great-grandmother of two. Funeral service at 2pm on Monday 16th June at the Church of St Andrew and St Mary, Grantchester, Cambridge, followed by burial there and reception. No flowers please, but donations to Grantchester Church or Save the Children.
She was d of Wing Cdr Denis Alfred Jex BUXTON 1895-1964 (gt gs of Sir Thomas Fowell BUXTON 1st Bt 1786-1845) and Emily Mary 1897-1970 d of William HOLLINS 1862-1918 (s of William HOLLINS 1815-90, who was s of Henry HOLLINS 1776-1848 who was gf of Sir Frank HOLLINS 1st Bt 1843-1924) and Mary 1873-1946 d of Sir Charles SEELY 1st Bt 1833-1915 (f of 1st Baron MOTTISTONE 1868-1947) and Emily EVANS 1837-94. She m 1950 (as his 2nd w) her 3rd cousin David Roden 1910-2003 s of Charles Roden BUXTON 1875-1942 (s of Sir Thomas Fowell BUXTON 3rd Bt 1837-1915 (gs of the above 1st Bt) as well gs of 1st Earl of GAINSBOROUGH 1781-1866, gt gs of 3rd Earl of RODEN 1788-1870, 2xgt gs of 12th Baron LE DESPENSER 1766-1831, etc) and Dorothy Frances 1881-1963 d of Arthur Trevor JEBB 1839-94 sometime head of that gentry family of The Lythe and Eglantyne Louisa JEBB c1845-1924 (4xgt gd of Samuel JEBB b 1664 who was 5xgt gf of 1st Baron GLADWYN 1900-96), and had two sons and three daus.
