The first of the three Gloucester births due this year. I wonder if
the forenames are some indication as to sponsors at the christening?
The child's aunt is Lady Rose Gilman and the child is 1st cousin twice
removed to Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.

They certainly like unique names! Can't wait to hear what Alexander's
sisters name their new children.

I believe Princess Alexandra is the Earl of Ulster's godmother.

There would have to be Bubonic plague or civil war for number 22 to
ever inherit!

Both in 2007 and now in 2010 we are seeing a lot of royal births--
shades of 1964. Now if Peter and Autumn Phillips will provide one and
the Nicholas Windsors another we'll have a true royal baby boom! I
remember reading that the Freddie Windsors don't want children at
least for now so I guess their out of the running.

My main concern is with more male heirs being begotten to the dukedom
of Gloucester, as to Peter Phillips efforts one wishes him well; but
his place in the succession is so distant that his endeavours may well
be of significance in a generation or two and only if the those ahead
of him fail in their duty! Now that would be a different matter were
he to be given an hereditary title, but as that is not likely, he may
have a hundred boys, but I would still more interested in one male
heir being born to either of the sons of the present duke of
Sutherland.

The fact that the current duke of Gloucester only inherited because
his elder brother was killed in a plane crash shows how important it
is to have an heir and a spare so although its congratulations to the
happy couple here`s hoping they decide to have at least one more child
and that its a boy.
