Major-General John Baskervyle-Glegg, MBE, who died suddenly at his
home, 30 November, 2004, age 64, was senior British Loan Service
Officer, Oman, 1990-93.

He was born 10 November, 1940, the son of Lieutenant-Colonel John
Baskervyle-Glegg, of The Gateways, Chelsea, London W3, by his wife
Ethne Woollan, and was educated at Eton College. A sister, Myrna
Elizabeth, who died in 1974, was the first wife of the 3rd Baron
Brassey of Apethorpe.

Career: Grenadier Guards, 1960, served in the UK, Germany, Cyprus, Far
East and Africa; Staff College, 1974; Commanded 1st Battalion, The
Grenadier Guards, Berlin and UK, 1980-82; Royal College of Defence
Studies, 1982-84; Commander 24 Infantry Brigade, Catterick, 1984-86;
Commander British Military Advisory Training Team, Zimbabwe, 1987-89.

Major-General Baskervyle-Glegg was appointed MBE in 1974.

He married in 1974, Jane Van der Noot.

The funeral Service takes place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Rimpton,
Somerset on Friday 10th December, 2004.
