Maj Sir Timothy Robert Sherlock Gooch, MBE, 13th Baronet, late the
Life Guards, died 9 April, 2008. He was 73.
He was born 7 Dec 1934, third but 2nd surviving son of Colonel Sir
Robert Gooch, KCVO, 12th Bt (1903-78) by his wife the former Katharine
Chervaux Chaytor, dau of Maj-Gen Sir Edward Chaytor, KCMG, KCVO, scion
of the Chaytor Baronets; educated at Eton and RMA; Maj the Life Guards
(retired) awarded the MBE (Mil) 1970; Member of HM Bodyguard of Hon
Corps of Gentlemen at Arms from 1986; succeeded to the baronetcy (GB
1746) on the demise of his elder brother, Sir (Richard) John Sherlock;
married 1963, Susan Barbara Christie, only dau of Ma-Gen Kenneth
Christie Cooper, CB, DSO, OBE, by whom he had 2 daughters, Lucinda b
1970, and Victoria b 1974 who m Edward Vere Nicoll, a grandson of Maj
Raymond Guy Vere Nicoll, who married in 1939, Mary, yst daughter of
Admiral of the Fleet Sir Charles Madden, 1st Baronet, GCB, OM, GCVO; &
is descended from a
sister of the 6th & last Viscount Saye & Sele, &c. The heir pres is (I
believe) a kinsman, Arthur Brian Sherlock Gooch, born in 1937. Funeral
Service (no memorial service) at St. Nicholas Church, Wrentham, on
Wednesday, 23rd April.

Michael, you are correct-- per Debrett's 2008, Sir Arthur succeeds
as the 14 th Baronet. However, since he only has (2) daughters, the
heir presumptive is his younger brother Thomas Sherlock Heywood Gooch,
b. 1943. He has an unmarried son, Robert Brian Sherlock, b. 1976.

The new baronet's brother-in-law is Sir Anthony Quilter, 4th Bt.
