From the Times of 6 Dec 2021: DE FONBLANQUE John Robert CMG died peacefully on 26th November 2021 aged 77. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, son Tom, and family, friends, and former colleagues. John’s life will be celebrated at 2.40pm on Tuesday 14th December at Mortlake Crematorium. He was s of Maj-Gen Edward Barrington DE FONBLANQUE CB CBE DSO 1895-1981 sometime head of that gentry family f/o Guildford House and Elizabeth Flora Lutley 1911-2005 d of Capt Guy SCLATER 1868-1914 (gs of William Lutley SCLATER 1789-1885 f of 1st Baron BASING 1826-94. Also gs of Sir David HUNTER BLAIR 3rd Bt 1778-1857 and cion of HAY Bts and FORBES Lords etc etc) and Evelyn Muriel CHAPPELL 1880-1911. He m 1984 Margaret b 24 Jan 1939 reg Q1 London d of Geoffrey Hardcastle PREST 1903-71 by his 1925 m reg Q4 Durham to Hilda DORAN 1903-1956, and had a son (Thomas (Tom) Robert b 1985 reg Q3 London) as above.
