From the Telegraph online:
The engagement is announced between Henry, son of Sir Robert and Lady Davis-Goff, and Sarah, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Marcus Hartland-Mahon, of Milltimber, Aberdeenshire.

Henry Terence Chadwick DAVIS-GOFF (b. 1986) is the second son of Sir Robert DAVIS-GOFF, 4th Baronet (b. 1955) and Nathalie Sheelagh CHADWICK.

Are the Hartland-Mahon's scion of an Irish gentry family?

Hi Henry
I can't find a connection to any family of whom we treat, but that doesn't mean there isn't one! Here's what I was about to post, but am now added it to what you've done:

From the Telegraph of 24 February 2018: Mr H.T. Davis-Goff and Miss S.F. Hartland-Mahon - The engagement is announced between Henry, son of Sir Robert and Lady Davis-Goff, and Sarah, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Marcus Hartland-Mahon, of Milltimber, Aberdeenshire.

Sarah F d of Marcus H F HARTLAND-MAHON (b c 1949) by his 1983 m (the Times 5 May) to Rachel (b 1957 ref 162/11 Mortlach) d of Dr R HEWSON of Banchory, Kincardine.

Perhaps related to the Barons Hartland (surnamed Mahon)? Extinct since 1845 when the 3rd Baron died, but Burke's General Armory gives the following:

Mahon (Cavetown, co. Roscommon, confirmed, 1884, to Lieut-Col Maurice Hartland Mahon, son of Rev. Arthur Mahon, of Cavetown, and grandson of Robert Mahon, Esq., Cavetown, and to the other descendants of his grandfather. This last named Robert was son of Ven. Arthur Mahon, Archdeacon of Elphin, whose father, Very Rev. Peter Mahon, Dean of Elphin, was 4th son of Nicholas Mahon, Esq., of Ballinemly, same co. and brother of John Mahon, Esq., of Strokestown, the grandfather of Maurice, 1st Lord Hartland.

I would imagine, as is often the case, to emphasize the family connections this branch of the Mahons simply formally adopted Hartland, probably a middle name for some generations, as part of the surname.

Well, a little research:

The Lt-Col Maurice Hartland Mahon, s. of Rev. Arthur Mahon, as above, married Louisa Blake, dau. of Capt. Richard Bourne, R.N., and had issue, with two daughters, a son, Richard James Hartland Mahon (1847-1923), a Major in the East Surrey Regt. He married, in 1872, Charlotte, dau. of Maj.-Gen. Henry Cole Faulkner, of Castletown Castle, co. Carlow, and had two sons. The elder, Richard Faulkner Herbert Hartland Mahon (1874-1936), Capt. R.N., married, in 1910, Annie M., dau. of - Wellesley-Bigsworth (I suspect Arthur, making her sister of the aviator also named Arthur W.-B.). Their son, Richard Wellesley Marcus Hartland Mahon (1916-1976) was sometime of Manor House, Molo, Kenya, and sometime of Michaelhouse, South Africa, farming at both places. He had been a Captain in the Royal Armoured Corps. He married in 1947, (Frances Mary) Margaret (1918-2011), dau. of Henry Raynolde Poole, O.B.E., D.S.O., Legion d'Honneur. Her maternal grandfather, Skeffington Dodgson, was younger brother of Lewis Carroll.

Marcus Henry Faulkner Hartland-Mahon, as in the first post, works in the oil and gas industry of Central Asia, based in Kazakhstan, and has resided in Aberdeenshire since 1977. Another daughter is Emma (the 2011 obituary for Margaret Hartland-Mahon seems to indicate there are only two daughters [along with two male first cousins], but the announcement above states 'youngeST', rather than 'youngeR', daughter, which is confusing); Sarah's middle initial probably, given the evidence to hand, stands for 'Frances' or, possibly more likely, 'Faulkner'.

Thank you for your provision of accurate details, Emma- it's often difficult to satisfactorily trace cadet branches and the like, so it's always useful to have the families themselves set the record straight if possible!
