An electrical engineer in telecommunications, he was a scion of the Hungerford Irish gentry family (BIFR 609/1).  "This family traditionally claims descent from the HUNGERFORDS of Farley, Somerset (see BURKE's Dormant and Extinct Peerages, HUNGERFORD B) - BIFR".  He m 1970 Carol [sic - BIFR] BABINGTON.  Only his son Josslyn [sic - BIFR] b 17 Jan 1976 is listed in BIFR.
