From the Times of 13 Feb 2026: VERNON Lady Penelope died peacefully on 22nd January 2026, aged 85, at home in Fyfield, Hampshire. Wife of the late Sir William Michael Vernon and mother to Alastair. Funeral service to take place at 2.30pm on Wednesday 18th February at St Nicholas’s Church, Fyfield. Donations to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

She was d of Air Cdre George Felix Allin SKELTON 1909-85 by his 1935 m reg Q2 Suffolk to Karin ROSENIUS 1906-94. She m first 1963 reg Q4 London Norman A CUDDEFORD b c1933 reg Q1 Essex, and had a son (Alastair, as above). She m second 2001 as his 3 w Sir (William) Michael 1926-2014 s of Sir Wilfred Douglas VERNON 1897-1973 (gs of Sir William VERNON 1^st Bt 1835-1919) and Nancy ELizabeth 1899-1999 d of Tom JACKSON 1861- JP of Waterfoot, Heaton, Bolton.
