The late Lord Snowdon was never inhibited in expressing emotions, as he demonstrated when art dealer Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal sought his permission to marry his younger daughter, Frances Armstrong-Jones.

Responding without hesitation, the celebrated photographer gave his prospective son-in-law his blessing — and hugged him in delight.

But how, if he were still alive, would Snowdon react if he saw von Hofmannsthal today? I ask because, after 16 years of marriage, Rodolphe, 41, and Frances, 43, have parted company.

Although the Daily Mail says that the couple have two children, I have three children listed for them. Am I correct?

Yes, they have three kids - a boy and two girls

Rex, 14 - currently a Year 10 student at City of London School (based on his Instagram profile) - he deviated from his cousins and grandpa Snowdon who were Old Etonians (his paternal grandfather, Octavian, studied at Millfield. Rodolphe and his brother Caspar were educated at Dragon School in Oxford for primary school, where Rodolphe was classmates with Tom Hiddleston. No info as to where they studied in secondary school and university)
Maud, 12
Sybil, 9

Rodolphe’s mother, Annabel von Hofmannsthal, passed away last year.

Rodolphe’s grandmother is Lady Elizabeth Paget, daughter of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey, who was part of the Coronation of King George VI as one of the train bearers for the Queen Consort, Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother). The 6th Marquess was in the court ss well as lord chamberlain for Queen Mary.

"But how, if he were still alive, would Snowdon react if he saw von Hofmannsthal today?" = well the late Lord Snowdon could hardly take a stance on the moral high ground on marriage, bearing in mind he was unfaithful to both his wives and had numerous lovers and illegitimate children!

Always sad when a marriage comes to an end.
