Wardlaw of Pitreavie Baronetcy

I have been working through genealogies of Baronetal families, trying to reconcile genealogies from various sources, and have come across this mess in the Wardlaw family.

The early generations of the Wardlaw of Pitreavie family, and the numbering of the Baronets, are very confused, and many differences are shown among various sources. Generations and parentage changes between sources in some cases, and some in one source are omitted in another.

 

For example, Sir Archibald, born 23 Jan 1793, per Cokayne, or 25 Jan 1796, per Burke’s, is shown as 15^th Bt. by Cokayne, as 14^th Bt. in the 1868 Burke’s, and as 17^th Bt. in Burke’s 1914 and subsequent editions.
