From the Telegraph of 11 July 2013: BARRINGTON-WARD  BARRINGTON-WARD -JOHN CRAIG Major RA (Retd) died 4 July. Beloved husband of Anna and brother of Jane. Olympic torchbearer in 1948 and Olympic sailor in Helsinki in 1952. Funeral private at his request. Donations to Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Enquiries to R&P Everson 01983 755733.

He was s of Capt John Grosvenor BARRINGTON-WARD (1894-1946) of Oxford, and Diana Beatrice Eleanor (1900-96) d of J E MACFARLANE of Ardquin, Hindhead. He m 1947 Capt Anna Mary Hermione W.R.A.C. (b 1947) d of Lt-Col Robert Ball BARCROFT (1909-88), scion of that Irish gentry family, and his 1st w Elizabeth (Betty) Hermione Durance (d 1948) d of Lt-Col Harry Durance CARTWRIGHT, by his wife a scion of the gentry family JENNINGS of Gelli-Deg.

The last named was John Embleton Macfarlane (1861-1927), who married (1899) Alice Eleanor CRAIG, only sister of James, 1st Viscount Craigavon; hence Maj. Barrington-Ward's middle name.
