He was s of Sir Charles Johns MOLE KBE MVO 1886-1962 and Annie Eliza 1883-1962 d of Richard Hugh MARTIN c1856-c1923 of Plymouth and Mary _ c1851-. He m 1957 Hon Susan Mary HINTON 1932-2014 d of the LP Baron HINTON OF BANKSIDE 1901-83 and Lillian 1897-1973 d of Thomas BOYER 1873-1949 by his 24 Feb 1897 m (St Helen, Wilton, Chester) to (Eliza) Prudence 1877-1952 d of Joseph RANDLE (foreman), and had two sons.
