From the Telegraph of 19 Dec 2024: SPENCER Simon Charles, formerly of Greenhaugh, Redesmouth and Humshaugh. Died peacefully on 6th December aged 95. Greatly loved husband to the late Loveday, loving father of Charles and Andrew and proud grandfather. Private funeral.

He was s of James Seymour SPENCER 1900-67 and Winifred Anna HAMILTON 1905-86 (scion of the BELHAVEN & STENTON lords and ABERCORN dukes, and 2xgt gd of Sir Walter FARQUHAR 1st Bt 1738-1819 and 20xgt gd of 3rd Earl of LEICESTER d 1190 etc etc). He m 1965 (Nancy) Loveday 1930-2021 d of Edmund George CORYTON 1889-1981 scion of that gentry family of Pentillie Castle and Nesta Muriel 1892-1980 d of Charles Robert Sydenham CAREW 1853-1939 (gt gs of Sir Thomas CAREW 6th Bt 1755-1805) and Muriel Mary 1867-1939 d of Sir John HEATHCOAT-AMORY 1st Bt 1829-1914, and had two sons.
