Dying on 14th February 2021.

"DE SALIS. On February 14, BERNARD PETER, aged 84, passed away very peacefully. Greatly loved husband of Monica, father of Piers and Hugo and grandfather of Max, Sam, Amelie and Sukie. Private cre-mation with close family only. A service to celebrate his life will be announced in due course."


His wife, Monica Bower, a descendant of Sir Gerald Strickland GCMG, (c 1861-1940) 6th (recte 4th Conte)- created in the UK, Baron Strickland of Sizergh.

Lord Strickland held a number of colonial governorships-Antigua,Western Australia and New South Wales.He had a fiery temper said to have come from his Maltese ancestors.He was disliked by the members of the Colonial Office who satirised his Maltese title(Count della Catenna) as Count Delicatessen.

Count Bernard was also in remainder to the Viscountcy Masserene (though not to the Viscountcy Ferrard) in the peerage of Ireland through his mother Winifred Alice d'Anyers nee Willis (1910-1977) dau of Hon Ethel Mary Catherine nee Skeffington 2nd dau of the 11th Viscount

I'd love to see that quote. How funny and yes, fiery Maltese temper indeed. He went to court with a number of other Maltese nobleman.. Also was Prime Minister of Malta.
