R. P. Taylor of The Pulpits, Little Hereford, Salop., educ. Eton, 2nd Lt, Coldstream Guards. He s. of John Philip Pagan Taylor (1915-1986), of Clifford Manor, nr Stratford-on-Avon, Warwicks., Maj., Gordon Highlanders, farmer, and (m. 1948) Heather Felicia (1924-2013), dau. of Spenser Aldborough Flower (1878-1939), of Ilmington Manor and of Sweet Knowle, Warwicks., Maj., R.A.F., life trustee, Guardians of Shakespeare's Birthplace, vice-chairman, Shakespeare Memorial Theatre [see Flower of The Hill, BLG 1965; the family were heavily involved in preservation of the Shakespearean legacy, his elder brother, Sir Archibald Dennis Flower, mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon 1900-2, 1915-18, and 1931, being chairman of both these bodies, and their grandfather, Edward Fordham Flower (1805-1883) having campaigned for, and substantially financially contributed to, the establishment of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre].
J. P. P. Taylor s. of Capt. Arthur Edgar Taylor (1878-1949), of Downside, Charmouth, Dorset and Eileen Pagan (1891-1957), dau. of Dr Thomas Pagan Lowe. Capt. Taylor's father was James Davis Taylor (1841-1905), of Blair Athole, Oldfield Park, Bath, formerly of Southstoke House, nr Bath, brewer and maltster (founder, James D. Taylor & Sons.), who m. Hester Anna, dau. of John Fry, of North End Farm, Clutton, Bristol, yeoman. James Davis Taylor's father was Charles, a yeoman of Manor Farm, Stanton Prior, Somerset, who m. Mary Davis. The pedigree constructed by Martin Pagan Taylor, elder brother of Robin, goes back a further five generations through yeoman farmers to Richard Taylor, b. 1600, of Breach Farm, Pensford, Somerset, a property held by the family for several succeeding generations.
