Many connections beyond a life peerage here!

Baron HAMBRO (1930-2002) married, as his first wife, Rose Evelyn COTTERELL (1932-2006), dau of Sir Richard COTTERELL, 5th Baronet (1907-78) who was a scion of the RICHMOND, LENNOX & GORDON dukes [amongst many connections], and Lady Lettice LYGON (1906-73), dau of 7th Earl BEAUCHOMP & scion of the WESTMINSTER dukes [again, amongst many]. With his first wife he had issue, including Hon Charles HAMBRO.

Baron HAMBRO himself a member of the HAMBRO LG family, through his maternal grandmother is a scion of the DUNMORE, LEICESTER & PEMBROKE earls [amongst many], and through his paternal grandmother, a descendant of ABEL SMITH (1717-88) and therefore distant kin of HM The Queen.

It has always surprised me that this family never made it into the UK hereditary peerage, of course they are all still recognised as Danish barons, ad infinitum.

Does anyone know where there is a fairly up to date version of the Hambro family tree?

Thanks.

Hello Brooke, I'm afraid I'm not sure where a comprehensive updated tree would be; the last treatment in BLG was 1965. You might well have already looked there, but thepeerage.com has quite a bit of detail if you trace back from Charles Edward Hambro, citing BP 1999 and 2003, going back to Calmer Joachim Hambro (1747-), which covers at least a fair number of collateral descendants as far as I can tell- http://thepeerage.com/p5545.htm
