Cantacuzène/Rayner engagement

The engagement was announced 25 Aug 2007 between Prince Alexei
Cantacuzène, Count Spéransky, younger son of Prince Serge Cantacuzène,
Count Spéransky, of Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Rev Princess Mary
Cantacuzène, of Bures, Suffolk, and Miranda Elizabeth Rayner, elder
daughter of Mr and Mrs Murray Rayner, of Redbourn, Herfordshire.

"The Rev Princess Mary" - now that's one I never thought I'd see...

The Cantacuzenes, who were created princes by Alexander II of Russia
claim descent from the Byzantine Emperor John VI. Princess Anne Mary
(nee Trafford) is descended from the Paston-Bedingfield baronets and
the Lords Petre.

I believe that Anne Mary Trafford married Prince Sherban Cantacuzene.
Sergei Cantacuzene married Mary Mason. Another interesting fact is
that Prince Alexei is the descended from US President Ulysses Grant
through his granddaughter's marriage to Prince Mikhail Cantacuzene.

Thanks for that, rubbish research on my part. I thought that Sherban
was Bessarabian? Cossack? for Sergei, which sent me off on a tangent.
