Some details on the Gundry-White family:
G. G. Gundry-White second s. [the elder, Ian Malcolm (1918-1961), was Wing-Cmdr, R.A.F., D.F.C., and from 1960 to his death Chief of Air Staff, Ghana Air Force, formerly having been commander of No 101 Squadron R.A.F.] of Lionel Arthur Gundry-White (1894-1980), of 44, Westbourne Terrace, W.2. (a 1955 issue of the London Gazette has L. A. Gundry-White listing 'Coombe Green', Coombe Hill Road, Kingston, Surrey as freehold property in the land registry; following his name is given '65, London Wall, E.C.2'- this was the address of P.P. Rodocanachi & Co., bankers, apparently at least until the 1950s, so perhaps he was a banker or they were acting for him somehow?), Col, Royal Norfolk Regiment, liaison officer, British Military Mission to South Russia, 1919, by his wife (m. 1916) Valerie Lilian Anne (1897-1981), dau. of - Phelps. A Lilian Valerie A. Phelps b. 1897 at Islington seemed a likely candidate, but couldn't locate her conclusively in 1901 or 1911 census records.
L. A. Gundry-White (per census records, 4th) s. of George Gundry(-)White (1854-1940) of Elwino, Beach Road, Mundesley, Norfolk, formerly 1, Queen Street, [East Wymer], Norwich, formerly of Great Yarmouth, formerly of Whitechapel, restaurateur and wine merchant, by his wife (m. 1884) Maud(e) Mary (1862-1936), dau. of Urban Gardner, of Camberwell, Surrey [this confirmed by their first son, Bertie (b. 1886), bearing the middle name 'Urban', and the second son, Geoffrey (1887-1981), having the second middle name 'Gardner']. It seems 'Gundry' was G. G. White's middle name, becoming a compound surname in that all their children bore it.
G. G. White, per census records, b. Pimlico; couldn't locate anything further on him unfortunately.
