scion of the LG family of Dalton of The Hutts, elder son of Sir
Richard John Dalton (b 10 Oct 1948), sometime British Ambassador ro
Libya & Iran, of Hauxwell Hall, Leyburn, North Yorkshire, by his wife
the former Elizabeth Mary Keays, and Anna-Marika Starling, only dau of
Mr & Mrs William Starling, of Wissington, Suffolk.

William Dalton is a grandson of Maj-Gen John Cecil D'Arcy Dalton, CB.
CBE (b 1907), by his wife Pamela Frances Segrave, dau of Brig.Gen.
William Henry Eric Segrave, DSO; and a great-grandson of Major-Gen
James Cecil Dalton (1848-1931), of The Hutts, Grewelthorpe, Yorks, by
his wife the former Mary Caroline Barker, dau of Gen. Sir George Digby
Barker, GCB, of Clare Priory, Suffolk. William is a great-great-
grandson of Lieut-Gen Charles James Dalton (1812-80), by his wife the
former Mary Norcliffe Cleghorn..........an impressive military
pedigree...
