From the Telegraph of 13 July 2024: Mr H.F.S. Horton and Miss A.D. Spendlove - The engagement is announced between Hugo, son of Mr and Mrs Jamie Horton, of Alverstone, Isle of Wight, and Arabella, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Spendlove, of London.

The prospective bride's parents, Peter Edwin SPENDLOVE (born 13 V 1954) and Tessa M OLLIVER (born 1958), were married in 1980 (registered Q3 - Wycombe).

 

Mrs Tessa Spendlove is the eldest daughter of (Raymond) Orme OLLIVER (c.1933 - 22 III 2019) and his wife (married 1956) Phillida Betty HARBEN. Orme Olliver was himself the son of Alwyne Gervase OLLIVER (23 X 1893 - 10 IV 1974) and his wife (married 1924), Geraldine de Courcy Trevelyan TAYLOR (1901 - 16 V 1995). Geraldine Taylor was the daughter of Capt Arthur Trevelyan TAYLOR, RN (8 VIII 1864 - 16 VI 1956) and his wife (married 12 X 1897), Geraldine de Courcy BARTON (17 VI 1873 - 26 XII 1964), who was herself the daughter of Augustus Purling BARTON (26 VIII 1834 - 3 VIII 1914) and his wife (married 9 II 1869), Geraldine de Courcy COOK-COLLIS (c.1842 - 6 I 1885), of that Irish landed gentry family.

 

Geraldine Cook-Collis was the second daughter of the Rev Maurice Atkin Cook-COLLIS (24 III 1812 - 8 XII 1882) and his wife (married 27 VI 1839), Anne TALBOT-CROSBIE (died 10 XII 1896), whose father, the Rev John TALBOT-CROSBIE (died I 1818), was briefly MP for Ardfert, County Kerry, in the Irish House of Commons in 1800, prior to the Act of Union, and before he took Holy Orders. He changed his name by Royal Licence from Talbot to Talbot-Crosbie on 14 February 1816.

 

The Rev John Talbot-Crosbie was the grandson maternally of William CROSBIE, 1st Earl of Glandore (c.1715 - 11 IV 1781) and his first wife (married 1745), Lady Theodosia BLIGH (died 20 V 1777), daughter of the 1st Earl of Darnley and his wife, the suo jure 10th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold.
