From the Telegraph of 13 March 2026: WELBY-EVERARD Roger Earle died peacefully at home on 7th March, aged 83. Devoted husband to Liz, and a loving father and grandfather. Private cremation. A celebration of his life will be held in early summer.

He was s of Capt Philip Herbert Earle WELBY-EVERARD 1902-85 (gt gs of Sir Glynne Earle WELBY-GREGORY 3 Bt 1806-75) and Lilla Anna Maree Castell 1905-99 d of Magnus SPENCE of Springfontein, Fig Tree, Zimbabwe. He m 1966 Isabel Anne b 1946 d of Maj Henry Lloyd Fielding BUCKNALL 1904-70 of Branscombe, Devon and Barbara Helen 1908-94 d of Guy SHORROCK 1867-1941 of Newton Abbot, Devon and Emma Blanche 1868-1909 d of Adm Charles WAKE 1824-90 (s of Sir Charles WAKE 10 Bt 1791-1864) and Emma 1832-1920 d of Sir Edward ST AUBYN 1 Bt 1799-1872 (f of 1 Baron ST LEVAN 1829-1908) and Emma 1806-87 d of Gen William KNOLLYS 1763-1834 (scion of the KNOLLYS viscounts but not apparently descended from the 1 Earl of BANBURY c1547-1632, whose title he unsuccessfully claimed for that reason. His 3xgt gf was in fact 4 Baron VAUX OF HARROWDEN 1588-1661 who died without legitmate issue) and Charlotte Martha BLACKWELL 1777-1818, and had two sons and a dau.
