He was s of Neil William GARDINER 1908-73 of Great Auclum, Burghfield Common, Berks by his 8 Feb 1933 m (Holy Trinity, Sloane St SW3) to Ellen Mary Norah 1903-63 d of James William CLEGG 1857-1918 (cotton spinner) and Mary Jane Helen _ c1878-1963. He m 1963 Carolyn Georgina b 1940 d of Thomas Humphrey NAYLOR 1890-1966 scion of that gentry family of Leighton Hall and his 2^nd w Dorothy Isabel 1902-86 d of Sir Richard Durning HOLT 1^st Bt 1868-1941 and Eliza Lawrence WELLS 1868-1951, and had issue
