From the Telegraph and Times of 8 December 2018: KNOX  Gerald, Earl of Ranfurly, died very peacefully on 4th December 2018 one month before his 90th birthday. Much loved & best friend to Rosemary, father of Edward, Liz, Fran and Rupert, grandfather to 10, great grandfather to 3. Private family funeral to be followed after Christmas by a service of thanksgiving.

He was s of Capt John Needham KNOX (1890-1967, gt gt gs of 1st Earl of RANFURLY) and Monica (d 1975) d of Maj-Gen Sir Gerald Charles KITSON KCVO CBCMG (1856-1950) and Gwendolen MOULE (d 1934). He m 1955 Rosemary Vesey (b 1929 reg London) d of Air Vice Marshal Felton Vesey HOLT CMG DSO (1886-1931) and Marion Edith DUGDALE, and had two sons and two daus. His elder son succeeds him:

Edward John KNOX (b 1957) [8th] Earl of RANFURLY, has yet to establish his claim and appear on The Peerage Role. He m 1st 1980 (div 1984) Rachel Sarah d of Frank Hilton LEE. He m 2nd (Feb) 1994 Johanna Humphrey d of Sqdn Ldr Harry Richard WALTON MBE, and had a son and a dau.
