Thanks for the link to the obit. I see they give her birth year as 1935. But Debrett & thepeerage.com give the year as 1934.

Obit in the Telegraph of 20 April 2019:

EXTRACT

…born Jean Margaret Wallop at Big Horn, Sheridan, Wyoming on April 29 1935, [d] of Oliver Wallop and Jean, née Moore. … partly English and partly American: her paternal grandfather, Oliver Henry Wallop, had chosen life as a rancher in Wyoming and married Marguerite Walker of Kentucky, only returning to England on succeeding his unmarried brother as 8th Earl of Portsmouth in 1925.

[Her] father, also Oliver Wallop, stayed on [the ranch] and married Jean Moore, an heiress from New York, who died in 1943, when Jeanie was seven. She had two brothers and a younger sister; her brother Malcolm was a three-time Republican senator for Wyoming.

Her maternal grandfather, Edward Small Moore, a financier, publisher and racehorse owner, [s] of Judge William H Moore, an attorney and financier who was director of several steel companies which united to form United States Steel. With his brother, he controlled numerous companies, including Diamond Match Company, National Biscuit Company (later Nabisco), the American Can Company, the Western Union Telegraph Company, and several railroads; he was also an expert horseman.

In 1900 he purchased a house in New York on East 54th Street, described as “one of the finest private dwellings in the city”. His wife, Ada, was a noted collector of Asian antiques, and owned works by the likes of Rubens and Sargent.

Jeanie met … the 7th Earl of Carnarvon, or Lord Porchester, at Uckfield House in Sussex, the home of her cousin, Lady Rupert Nevill. It had been somewhat in the news, due to giving sanctuary to Group Captain Peter Townsend while the issue of his possible marriage to Princess Margaret was much in the public mind. They were third cousins, since the 5th Earl of Portsmouth had married a daughter of the 3rd Earl of Carnarvon in 1885.

They were married in 1956 in St James Episcopal Church, Madison Avenue. The bride’s father had chosen New York instead of London or Wyoming as “better for everybody from expense angle, to place it halfway between”. …Returning to Britain, they had three children, George (Geordie), the current Earl of Carnarvon, a godson of the Queen, born in 1956, Henry (Harry), born in 1959, and Carolyn, born in 1962, who is married to John Warren, currently bloodstock adviser to the Queen.

...Lord Carnarvon died in 2001, and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh … attend[ed] his funeral. Jeanie remained a close friend of the Queen’s and invited her to a concert in Newbury to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Spring Festival...
