The engagement was announced between Ashley Edward Hubert Butler (b.
1969), elder son of Mr Simon L. Butler, of Chagford, Devon, by his wife
the late Hon. Margaret Jessel, and Alexis Bowater (b. 1969), younger
daughter of Sir Euan David Vansittart Bowater, 3rd Baronet (b. 1935),
and Lady Bowater, of Chagford, Devon.

Ashley Butler is a grandson maternally of the 2nd (and last) Baron
Jessel, CBE (1904-90) by his first wife, the former Lady Helen Maglona
Vane-Tempest-Stewart, daughter of the 7th Marquess of Londonderry, KG,
MVO, TD, PC (1878-1949).
