GRENFELL
Captain John Stephen Grenfell, Royal Navy, died peacefully at home on
29 April 2010. Beloved husband of Stephanie, father of James,
Nicholas, and Alastair and proud grandfather. A Service of
Thanksgiving will be held at 12.30pm on 21 May at St Peter’s Church,
Petersfield. Donations may be made to The Rosemary Foundation, c/o
Michael Miller Funeral Directors, 27a The High Street, Petersfield
GU32 3JR.

He was the son of Cdr Cecil John GRENFELL RN (1908-1980) and Diana
Susan (b 1919, m 1939, div 1967) gt gd of Sir Astley Paston COOPER 2nd
Bt (cr UK 1821). He m 1967 Stephanie Ann (Sophie) dau of Capt James
Richard MARIGOLD RN and had 3 sons as above.

Capt Grenfell was a direct descendant of the 1st Earl of Cavan, the
1st Viscount Boyne and the 2nd Marquess Conyngham, and through Lt.-
Col. Reginald Pascoe Grenfell, was related by marriage to the great
comedienne Joyce Grenfell.
