I have been studying one of the most curious remainders every in the
peerage. The recent interpretation where the peerage reverts to the
second son of the duke, and therefore depriving a third son of a
previous duke of the peerage, should there be a duke who has a second
son. This means that the current disclaimed earl's son lord deer,
could be displaced as the heir apparent. Say due to a series of
deaths, the disclaimed earl found himself duke of Hamilton, then it
would be his second son who would become heir presumptive. Did the
Lord Lyon get the matter right, when he by passed the once Master of
Selkirk, son of Lord Avon Hamilton? I surprised that the matter has
not been discussed here before!

No comments on this? I am surprised as I thought it would just the
thing that peerage pundits would enjoy talking about.
