The death of Sir Patrick Michael Ernest David McNAIR-WILSON was announced on 17 December 2025.

He was born 28 May 1929, the son of Dr Robert McNair-Wilson d 1963 (reg Q4 New Forest) by his m to Doris May _____ b 3 Oct 1898 d 1993 (reg New Forest). He was Member of Parliament (Conservative) for Lewisham West 1964-66 and New Forest 1968-97. He was knighted in 1989.

He m 1953 Diana Evelyn Kitty Campbell 1932-2015 dau of Hon Laurence Paul METHUEN JP 1898-1970 (s of Field Marshal 3rd BARON METHUEN 1845-1932 by his 1884 2nd m to Mary Ethel 1861-1941 dau of William AYSHFORD SANFORD JP DL 1818-1902 sometime head of that landed gentry family by his 1857 1st m to Sarah Ellen d 1867 dau of Henry SEYMOUR 1767-1845 gt gs of Sir Edward SEYMOUR 5th Bt (of Berry Pomeroy) 1663-1741 and 4x gt gs of 1st DUKE OF SOMERSET 1500-53) by his 1927 1st m to Hon Olive Douglas CAMPBELL 1896-1949 dau of 4th BARON BLYTHSWOOD 1870-1929 by his 1895 m to Evelyn dau of John FLETCHER of Saltoun. Sir Patrick and Lady McNAIR-WILSON had 1 son and 4 daughters.

The late Sir Patrick McNair-Wilson's parents, Dr Robert McNAIR-WILSON (22 V 1882 - 29 XI 1963) and his second wife (married 1928), Doris May FISCHEL (3 X 1898 - 1993), were also the parents of Sir (Robert) Michael Conal McNAIR-WILSON (12 X 1930 - 28 III1993), MP (Conservative) for Walthamstow East, 1969-74, and for Newbury, 1974-92. Sir Michael's only child, Mrs Laura Rose FARRIS (born 13 VI 1978), was MP (Conservative) for Newbury, 2019-24.
 
Dr Robert McNair-Wilson was Medical Correspondent of The Times newspaper from 1914 to 1942. His first wife (married 7 XII 1905) was Winifred PAYNTER (21 IX 1878 - 27 VII 1945), a daughter of Henry Augustus PAYNTER (2 IV 1846 - 16 V 1919), of that landed gentry family, of Boskenna, Cornwall, and his wife, Henrietta Jekyll NEWMAN (14 VII 1849 - 10 XII 1914).
