He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Deirdre; children Iva, Walter, and Elisabeth (Matthew); grandchildren Jack, Rosie, Sam, Savannah, and Kirk; and great-grandchildren Jean-Luc and Eloise. He m 1961 (as her 2nd h) Deirdre Clare b 1935 da of V/Adm John George Lawrence DUNDAS CB CBE (1893-1952) scion of the Marquesses of Zetland, though only in remainder to the Earldom of Zetland and the 1762 Baronetcy, being descended from the 5th brother of the 1st Marquess, and (m 1928) Ruth Northrop COLEMAN (d 2005). They had a son and a da. His daughter Iva is actually a step-da being the da from his widow's 1st m.
