She was d of Capt Patrick Claud BURGES LUMSDEN 1905-84 scion of the Irish gentry family of BURGES (and gs of Frederica Isabella Augusta LORT PHILLIPS 1851-1919 scion of that Welsh gentry family of Lawrenny, as well 2xgt gs of 1st Baron SKELMERSDALE 1771-1853 who was gf of 1st Earl of LATHOM 1837-98) and Margaret Fitzgerald 1905-82 d of Rear Adm Walter LUMSDEN CIE CVO 1865-1947 (who she succ as) head of that Scots gentry family (now Burges-Lumsden) of Pitcaple and Ethel Flora 1872-1957 d of Sir Thomas Naghten FITZGERALD CB 1897-1908 of Melbourne and Margaret 1852-90 d of James ROBERTSON 1800-74 of Lanceston, Tasmania and Margaret MCDONALD 1822-91. She m 1970 (Alexander) Jonas Brett ASPLIN 1938-2003, and had three daus:
