The Times published an obit on 9 September. Extract:
... although [Ian's] family seat, Blairmore House, was in Huntly,
Aberdeenshire; it was built by his great-grandfather Alexander Geddes
in 1884. Geddes had left Scotland for Chicago, where he made his
fortune in grain, before returning to Aberdeenshire in the 1880s and
building his new home... . It is commonly known that David Cameron is
fifth cousin to the Queen, twice removed (he is related to the Queen
through William IV's illegitimate daughter, according to Debrett's).
The details of his Scottish ancestry however, are somewhat less well-
known. Ian Cameron's father, Ewen Donald Cameron, married Enid Agnes
Maud Levita, granddaughter of Sir Alfred Cooper and Lady Agnes Duff,
whose parents were James Duff, 5th Earl of Fife and Chief of the Clan
MacDuff, and Lady Agnes Hay. Agnes was the daughter of William George
Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll, and Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence. One of
Agnes's four children, Duff Cooper, became Churchill's Minister of
Information during the Second World War; his wife Diana was a
celebrated beauty. ... Ian Cameron emerged from his younger son's
shadow in 2006 when he sold two portraits at auction in Newbury,
Berkshire, for more than £1 million. The sale of the paintings ...
broke auction house records. Works by Greuze are held by [London's
National Gallery] and the Louvre, but the two portraits, painted in
1766, had been estimated to just £18,000. Ian and Mary Cameron sold
the paintings, along with 11 pieces of antique furniture, because they
were moving from their home in Peasemore, near Newbury, to a smaller
house close by.....
