He was s of Alfred John Alwyne COMPTON 1918-2015 by his 1949 m reg Q4 London to Diana F SLOCOCK b 1922 reg Q4 Surrey. He m 1981 Caroline Mary b 1954 d of Henry Temple CLOSE-SMITH 1918-2011 scion of that gentry family of Boycott Manor  (and gs of Lady KINLOSS in her own right 1852-1944) and Cicely Margaret 1924-2014 d of Rev Edward Eustace HILL 1877-1958 and Elizabeth CATOR scion of that gentry family of Woodbastwick (and 2xgt gd of 3rd Viscount POWERSCOURT 1730-88).
