I've now had a chance to check the 1952 BLG. (I've access to all the
LGs as I'm in the National Archives today - principally to study a
warrant of Henry VIII to Thomas Cromwell, giving the latter permission
to append the Great Seal to letters patent creating Anne Boleyn
'Marquesse of Pembroke'. Interestingly, she's described as 'Lady Anne
Rochford' in the warrant. There's really nothing to beat the thrill of
handling and reading a document which is now nearly 500 years old and
bears the sign manual of one of the most famous kings of all time!)
Anyway, back to the Bond-Cabbells of Cromer. Margaret, Lady Preston is
the eldest dau. of the former head of that family, Benjamin Bond-
Cabbell (1858-92). As the eldest dau of a family with no obvious male
heir, it's understandable that the Cabbell name should pass down
through her. She had three younger sisters of whom Beatrice Evermar (b
1885) m a Barclay of the LG family of Leyton and had issue; and Evelyn
(b 1891) m a scion of the Earls of Gainsborough had had issue.
