From the Telegraph of 16 Feb 2024: STAPLES Francis Aidan (Frank), suddenly aged 84 years in Wiltshire on 29th January 2024. Predeceased in 2014, by his beloved wife Sarah. Much loved uncle, cousin and friend. Funeral at St Aldhelm's (RC), 26 Cross Hayes, Malmesbury… on Wednesday 28th February at 12.30 p.m. followed by a Burial Service at St Peter and St Paul's, Great Somerford… at 2 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations to My Name'5 Doddie Foundation (an MND charity) via Co-op Funeralcare, 14 The Bridge, Chippenham... For this cause and others, Frank ran many marathons.

He was s of Maj A J STAPLES. He m 1981 Sarah Anne 1951-2014 d of Maj Peter William Garside PHILLIPS MC 1920-98 and Anne Patricia 1926-88 d of Brig John Gerhard Edward TIARKS 1896-1962 scion of that gentry family f/o Foxbury and Evelyn Florence 1899-1994 d of Percy Roland CRIPPS 1860-1905 and Mary Howard TRIPP 1860-1900 scion of that gentry family f/o Sampford Brett. No issue.

Mr Staples’ brother in law is Capt Mark PHILLIPS, The Princess Royal’s 1^st h. Their son Peter was page of honour at his wedding (see attached).

Per company records, the late Mr Staples was born on 16th January 1940. His father would appear to have been, to give his name in full, Maj Aidan (or Aiden) Joseph STAPLES (c.1901 - 6 I 1943).
