I must admit I was surprised that Alexander Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse yr is styled Master of Cranstoun in the notice as I had always assumed that title was confined to the peerage rather than being allowed to chiefly families and/or the Scots baronage.  I have read the extracts from Valentine Heywood's British Titles and Sir Malcolm Innes of Edingight's article in scotsgenealogy.com on peers and heirs (which doesn't to be available now or at least not on the link that Richard provided) which Richard helpfully supplied in other discussions on the Master title and they don't seem to permit this.  He is not described as "Master of Cranstoun" in the last print edition of Burke's P&B which has an article on this family, Chiefs of the Names and Arms of Cranstoun
