Grove baronetcy (1874)

Hi Brooke - I wonder, as you have an US Ancestry subscription, whether there is anything on there about Charles Gerald Grove (5th Baronet) b 10 Dec 1929 and his brother (the only heir) Harold Thomas Grove b  6 Dec 1930? Both appear to be resident in USA but that isn't very specific! Both apparently unm in DPB.  Many thanks

I checked.   Nothing turns up for either man, but, as we know, that doesn't always tell the story.

How curious ....DPB online gives the present 5th Baronet's middle name as Hubert whereas in the 2019 print edition it was Gerald

Nothing comes up under "Charles Hubert Grove" either.

My mom has a lot information about the Grove family,  all of them lived in Baja California, Mexico, south of Rosarito, and from time to time they traveled to San Diego, California. She is the last one with the Grove last name on the family tree.

Dear Marco - thanks very much for your post and for the further information about the Grove family.  It is always good when members of the families we are interested in contact us so thank you for taking the time to do so.

Thanks in particular for the interesting family tree that your mom has compiled which contains some information we were not aware of.  Your grandmother Teresa Grove Crosthwaite b 1934 was not known to us nor of course your mom Elena. They are not in the British books containing the family histories of baronets that we consult. If you or your mom can (or want to)  share any more details then I am sure we would be very interested

I wonder if you or your mom have any more information about your great-uncles Sir Charles Gerard Grove b 1929 and his younger brother Harold Thomas Grove b 1930?  Are they still alive or have they passed away - if they have can you share the dates of death? Were they married and did they have any children? If you have the names and dates of their spouses and children that would be very helpful. The books I mentioned don't seem to have very much information about them.

On your family tree you have the date of death (1944) of Honor Grove but not her date of birth.  She was born in 1883 in or near Tisbury, a village in Wiltshire, England.  You may know this but she married in 1911 in London Maj-Gen Nikolai Golejewski of the Imperial Russian General staff.  He was at one time Assistant Military Attaché at the Russian Embassy, London and then in Washington DC.  After the Russian Revolution he went into exile and  spent some time in Constantinople though it seems he eventually returned to Russia and died in Moscow in 1958.  He and Honor may have had daughters Kira and Sonia.  Honor, as "Madame Nikolai Golejewski" sailed 1st class  in the SS Minnetonka from New York to London in May 1914 and is described as one of the notable cultural and academic figures on board
