From the Hounslow Edition of the Chronicle & Informer local newspaper dated 22 June 2022, a legal notice concerning the estate of Peter Charles Robert ROUNTREE of Kensington, London W8, who died on 15 July 2021, aged 85 years.
Mr Rountree was appointed as a circuit judge in 1986. He was married in 1968 to (as her second husband) Mrs Nicola Mary GORDON, née NORMAN-BUTLER (born 15 XI 1939), of the Butler, formerly of Bourton, landed gentry family, by whom he had a son, James Alexander F ("Jamie") ROUNTREE (born 1975). His wife had been previously married, in 1962, to Ian Strathearn GORDON (IV 1939 - 1997), by whom she had a daughter, Serena Mary Strathearn GORDON (born 3 IX 1963; Serena Gordon, the actress).
Ian Strathearn GORDON was a great-grandson of the Law Life Peer, Edward Strathearn GORDON, Baron Gordon of Drumearn (10 IV 1814 - 21 VIII 1879), who had previously occupied the offices of Solicitor General for Scotland and Lord Advocate.
Mrs Nicola Mary ROUNTREE, formerly GORDON, was the younger daughter of Major Nicholas Norman NORMAN-BUTLER (30 III 1910 - 24 VIII 1971) and his wife (married 17 IV 1936) and third cousin, Faith Marianne HAMBRO (3 IV 1914 - 25 I 2004), of that landed gentry family. Mrs Rountree's father was a first cousin of the Life Peer, Baron Butler of Saffron Walden, and her paternal grandmother was both a niece of the 1st Viscount Chilston and a first cousin of the 1st and last Baron Norman, Governor of the Bank of England from 1920 to 1944; her maternal grandmother was a niece of the 1st Baron Avebury.
