From the Telegraph of 9 April 2026: FIENNES Mariette Helena, Lady Saye and Sele, died on 6th April 2026, aged 90, widow of Nathaniel Fiennes, 21st Baron Saye and Sele. Devoted mother and grandmother. Funeral at St Mary's Church, Broughton… on Monday 27th April at 2 p.m.
She was d of Maj-Gen Sir (Arthur) Guy SALISBURY-JONES GCVO CMG CBE MC 1896-1985 sometime head of that gentry family of Mill Down and as her 2 h Hilda Violet Helena 1900-95 d of Sir Maurice William Ernest DE BUNSEN 1 & only Bt 1852-1932 and Berta Mary 1869-1954 d of Amar Henry LOWRY-CORRY 1836-93 (gs of 2 Earl of BELMORE 1774-1841 and 6 Earl of SHAFTESBURY 1768-1851, as well gt gs of 4 Duke of MARLBOROUGH 1739-1817, etc etc) and Alice Margaret GREG c1846-1932. She m 1958 the 21/15 Baron SAYE & SELE 1920-2024, and had 3 sons and a dau.
Note: BLG1952 says she was born 4 Feb 1935 but, given the age stated in her death notice and her birth reg in London Q1 1936, I’ve used the latter year. Her son the present Lord Saye & Sele has yet to establish his claim and appear on The Peerage Roll.
