David J G MORRELL is a scion of the Morrell of Headington Hill Hall LG family, which last appeared in Burke's Landed Gentry in the 1952 edition, being the son of Colonel (Herbert) William (James) MORRELL (1 VIII 1915-20 XII 1995) by his 1946 marriage (registered Q4 - Chipping Norton) to Pamela Vivian Ellinor STUBBS. Colonel Morrell was the Chairman of the (sadly now defunct) Morrell's Brewery of Oxford, and had sisters who married into the Luard and Eld LG families. His nephew, Captain Charles John Eld, was Managing Director of the Brewery.

David J G Morrell's great-grandfather was Lt Col George Herbert Morrell MA, MP, JP, DL (20 II 1845-30 IX 1906), Member of Parliament (Conservative) for Woodstock from 1891 to 1892 and from 1895 to 1906.
