He was s of Lt-Col Basil WOODS BALLARD 1900-80 and Eileen Rose 1904-80 d of Lt-Col Hugh Wilson MOLESWORTH 1870-1959 (3xgt gs of 1 Viscount MOLESWORTH 1656-1725) and Dora Hanbury 1881-1972 d of Maj Sir (Robert) Hanbury BROWN KCMG 1849-1926 and Marian MBE 1852-1934 d of Rev Edwin MEYRICK 1816-93 scion of that gentry family of Ramsbury and his 1 w Martha c1824-1876 d of Thomas BROWN of Bulford, Wilts. He m 1967 Marianne Jean Elspeth b 1937 d of Lt-Col Hugh ARBUTHNOTT 1896-1961 (gt gs of 8 Viscount of ARBUTHNOTT 1778-1860) and Jess Agnes 1898-1978 d of Robert HENDERSON of Mount Hooly, and had two sons.
