I am searching for the following information and I am requesting everyone's help.

1) What peerage and baronetage titles became extinct as a result of the peer or baronet having been killed in either World War I or World War II and

2) What peerage and baronetage titles became extinct when the heir to the peerage or baronetage was killed in either of those 2 wars and the titleholder (peer or baronet) subsequently died without any successors.

Thanks to all!

Brooke....this might help. I'm reasonably happy with the listings for WW1, but I can't guarantee that the listings for WW2 are complete. Sorry about the formatting......

Brooke,
I can't answer the question, but the work to refer to is the New Extinct Peerage by L E G Pine published in 1972.It covers peerages that became extinct between 1884 and 1972.Used copies are available on AbeBooks.com.
One peerage that definitely became extinct was the Marquessate of Lincolnshire due to the death of Viscount Wendover who was the only son-see Sealion's post.

The Barony of Ribblesdale became extinct in 1925, the fourth and last baron lost four sons in the war. What would be interesting is if someone could compile a list of German and Austro-Hungarian titled families that became extinct as a result of the Great War.

It is not extending the question much to include Sir Charles Stronge, 8th Bt and his son Major James Stronge, both killed in the same hour in IRA action.
