From the Times of 16 July 2024: DENNISTOUN Romaine died peacefully at home after a short illness on 30th June 2024, aged 78. Much-loved wife of Christopher, mother of Felicity and grandmother of Albert and Bea, she will be in our hearts forever. Private funeral. No flowers. Donations to Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre…

She was d of Cdr Richard Oliver Bruce LONG 1914-82 and Marion Charlotte 1915-78 d of Sir Charles Murray MARLING 1862-1933 (s of Sir William Henry MARLING 2nd Bt 1835-1919) and Lucia 1883-1927 d of Maj-Gen Sir John Ramsay SLADE 1843-1913 (gs of Gen Sir John SLADE 1st Bt 1762-1859) and his 2nd w Janet Little 1859-1935 d of Lt-Gen Robert Blucher WOOD 1814-71 and Constantia LOWTHER 1831-64 (gd of 1st Earl of LONSDALE 1757-1844, as well gd of 5th Earl of HARBOROUGH 1767-1807, gt gd of 9th Earl of WESTMORLAND 1728-74, 3xgt gd of 1st Duke of ANCASTER & KESTEVEN 1660-1723, etc etc etc!!). She m 1983 Christopher J[ohn] b 1949 reg Q4 Berks s of Maj John DENNISTOUN MBE of E Garston, Berks by his c1937 m reg Q1 London to Nancy Mary 1909-90 d of Charles Kenward COURT by his 28 Oct 1903 m (St Martin in the Fields, London) to as her 2nd h Edith Mary d of Henry STEVENSON, and had a dau (Felicity Helen b 1985)

The late Mrs Dennistoun's paternal grandfather, Col William Hoare Bourchier LONG (22 III 1868 - 17 VII 1943), was the youngest brother of the 1st Viscount Long and the 1st Baron Gisborough.
 
Lt-Gen Robert Blucher WOOD was a son of Thomas WOOD (21 IV 1777 - 26 I 1860), MP (Tory, then Conservative) for Breconshire, 1806-47, and his wife (married 23 XII 1801), Lady Caroline STEWART (19 II 1781 - 10 VIII 1865), a daughter of the 1st Marquess of Londonderry.
