From the Times of 6 Dec 2025: CROSS Denis died on 27th November 2025. Much-loved husband to the late Emma, father to Katharine, Felicity, James, Frances and Thomas, and grandfather to 12 grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral is expected to be in the new year.

His yr son Thomas Charles CROSS m 2008 Joanna Clare b 1977 d of Michael Eliot HOWARD d 2025 and Caroline Anne b 1950 d of John Gordon PELLY 1923-2004 (2xgt gs of Sir John Henry PELLY 1^st Bt 1777-1852) and Patricia Maureen 1924-2020 d of Sqdn Leader Hugh Clarence FULLER 1889-1967 of Crossbeg, co Wexford & Moyra Eillen McGUSTY 1899-1984, and had three daus.

Per company records, the late Mr Denis Charles CROSS was born on 13 May 1938. He was married in 1963 to Margaret M BLACK, by whom he had the two sons and three daughters mentioned in his death notice, the youngest child being Timothy Charles CROSS (born 1976).

 

Mr Cross appears to have been the only child of Lt Charles Philip Woodrow CROSS, RN (1913 - 10 IV 1940, killed in action) and his wife (married 1 V 1937), Lorna Francesca Elizabeth Geraldine BURKE (6 IV 1911 - 1985), who was herself the only child of Maj Denis Joseph Gabriel Gerrard Marie BURKE, OBE (4 IX 1886 - 8 III 1951) and his wife (married 1910), (Mary) Lorna Frances McKEAN (6 VII 1888 - 10 IV 1963).

 

Lorna McKean was the only daughter of Andrew Edward McKEAN (11 IV 1864 - 1934) and his wife (married 13 VII 1886, as her first husband), Geraldine COVENTRY (1866 - 9 IV 1925), the elder daughter of William George COVENTRY (5 IX 1826 - 16 II 1874), a grandson of the 7th Earl of Coventry.
