I noticed on the online Court Circular that Lord Benyon of Englefield was listed as Lord Chamberlain designate on the 17th October before the King flew out to Australia - https://www.royal.uk/media-centre/court-circulars.

In January this year it was reported Lord Parker of Minsmere would step down from the role. Buckingham Palace said the move follows precedent and would complete the “transition to a new household for the new reign”.

That is rather odd, he is just Benyon. Englefield is part of the territorial designation. Someone did not research correctly in the Court Circular.

Lord Benyon's affiliation in the Lords changed from Conservative to Crossbench on 10 September so that may be when his appointment was confirmed.

The website of the Englefield Estate uses the style "Benyon of Englefield", so I suspect the error originates with the Lord Chamberlain-designate himself. Possibly whoever compiles the Court Circular nowadays assumed Benyon knew his own title.

Court Circular

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

November 4th

The Lord Parker of Minsmere had an audience of The King this afternoon, delivered up his Wand and Insignia of Office as Lord Chamberlain and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Chamberlain.

The Lord Benyon had an audience of The King, kissed hands upon his appointment as Lord Chamberlain and received from His Majesty the Wand and Insignia of Office when The King invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.
